Firefighter I & II Training Opportunity
Are you interested in getting started in the fire service or furthering your knowledge?
The Sedalia Fire Department is offering a Firefighter I & II Course that is recognized by the State of Missouri. Upon successful completion students will be eligible to test for Missouri State Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Awareness, and Hazmat Operations certifications. These certifications are required by most career fire departments before you can apply for employment.
Formatted With You In Mind
Our program operates every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00PM - 10:00PM and various Saturdays from 8:00AM - 5:00PM beginning in September and ending in March. The extended length of our program is due to classes only being held 2-3 days a week. Many other programs operate Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM. These programs allow you to complete the course in a much shorter time frame; however, it is extremely difficult to secure the time off or maintain full-time employment and attend these courses.
Highly Competitive Tuition
With tuition costs as low as $1200* we have made our program as affordable as possible. This includes text book, skills book, student manual, class polo, access to self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), and all instruction. Students are required to provide their own turnout gear. If they do not have access to this it may be rented at an approximate cost of $700** through a third party. The student must also provide safety glasses, black shoes or boots, and EMT/BDU style navy pants.
Our goal is to provide this training to our community with a schedule and tuition rate that can afford as many people as possible this opportunity. The fire service, and Sedalia, needs well trained men and women to become the next generation of public servants. Although we in no way imply that this program ensures you employment with the Sedalia Fire Department or any other fire service provider, we wish to prepare you to pick up where many great men and women before you have left off.
We have been approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education qualifying our program for use of your VA benefits.
