Uniform Operations Bureau
The Uniform Operations Bureau provides quality service to both Sedalia citizens and visitors alike. The Bureau is managed by the Uniform Operations Bureau Commander, who reports directly to the Chief of Police. The Bureau operates in a proactive manner to reduce crime, promote citizen safety and react effectively when incidents occur.
Within the Uniform Operations Bureau, the Traffic Management Unit is a highly trained unit that focuses on the safety of the motoring public. The Unit reviews traffic statistic and accident reports and works with the Citizen's Traffic Advisory Commission to improve the safety of vehicular travel on city streets.
The K-9 Unit consists of two officers and their Belgian Malinois dogs. Both Officers and K-9's trained at the Little Rock K-9 Academy where they received their certification in Narcotics. The K-9's are trained to detect the odors of Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, and Methamphetamine. A great asset to the Sedalia Police Department.
The D.A.R.E. Unit also runs out of this Bureau. The D.A.R.E. Program is taught in the Sedalia Middle School, Sacred Heart and St. Paul Schools.
The Sedalia Police Department receives over 35,000 calls for service and performs more than 8,500 car stops each year. All calls are categorized for computerized tracking and analysis purposes. Streamlined reporting processes allow officers to quickly complete incident reports and return to patrol duty.
The Uniform Operations Bureau consists of 28 officers who work on one of 4 squads. Three additional officers are assigned to the traffic management unit for special investigations and traffic enforcement.
