Mayor Pro-Tem Proclaims Letter Carriers Food Drive Day

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : Mayor Pro-Tem Susan Daniels issued a proclamation designating May 10, 2008 as Letter Carriers Food Drive Day in Sedalia. 

Text of Proclamation

WHEREAS: The United States Post Office performs vital services for our community and our residents have available to them the full resources of advancing technology used by the postal service to process the ever increasing volume of mail with speed and accuracy; and

WHEREAS: It is in the mutual interest of both individuals and business mailers to cooperate with the postal service in its public service programs designed to promote the general welfare and serve the common good; and

WHEREAS: The National Association of Letter Carriers #139 of Sedalia, in conjunction with the U.S. Postal Service, the AFL-CIO, the United Way of America, Priority Mail, and Campbell Soups, will be collecting non-perishable food items on Saturday, May 10th, for distribution to food banks in our community; and

WHEREAS: Residents are asked to bring their food donations to the U.S. Post Office, or to place a food donation by their mailboxes, on Saturday, May 10th, for their letter carrier to pick up and deliver to the food bank.

NOW THEREFORE I, Susan Daniels, Mayor Pro-Tem of the City of Sedalia, Missouri, do hereby proclaim May 10, 2008 as "LETTER CARRIERS FOOD DRIVE DAY" in the City of Sedalia and urge all residents to donate items to this worthy cause.
