Mayor Proclaims National Business Women's Week
(SEDALIA, MISSOURI) : On Monday, October 12, 2009, Mayor Mary Elaine Horn issued a proclamation designating October 18-24, 2009 as National Business Women's Week in Sedalia.
Text of Proclamation
WHEREAS: Working women constitute approximately 62.7 million of the nation’s work force and are constantly striving to serve their communities, their states, and their nation in civic and cultural programs; and
WHEREAS: Major goals of business and professional women are to elevate the standards for women in business and in the professions; to promote the interests of business and professional women; to bring about a spirit of cooperation among business and professional women of the United States; and to extend opportunities to business and professional women through education along lines of industrial, scientific, and vocational activities; and
WHEREAS: We salute the leadership of members of the Sedalia Business and Professional Women’s Organization in their many fields of endeavor and service to the community during this observance of National Business Women’s Week;
NOW THEREFORE, I, MARY ELAINE HORN, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SEDALIA, MISSOURI, do hereby proclaim October 18-24, 2009, as "NATIONAL BUSINESS WOMEN’S WEEK" in the City of Sedalia, Missouri, and urge all residents in this community to join in this salute to working women by promoting and encouraging the celebration of the achievements of all business and professional women as they contribute daily to our economic, civic, and cultural purposes.
