EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES ACTIVATED

The City of Sedalia has activated the EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 as the National Weather Service has reported the potential for steadily falling temperatures with rain beginning late Friday afternoon, changing over to snow with accumulations from 1-3 inches overnight. Please click here to view the January 18, 2019 public service announcement issued by the City of Sedalia.

Drivers who routinely park on streets designated as Emergency Snow Routes will need to move their vehicles to other locations as snow is expected to accumulate during nighttime hours. City crews will be working overnight Friday to ensure Emergency Snow Routes remain open. Cars remaining parked on emergency snow routes may be towed or plowed in as crews work to keep these roadways open for emergency vehicles.

10/31/2014 - Fireball Run Teams Name Sedalia as "2014 Great American City"
On Friday, October 31, 2014, Fireball Run announced Sedalia had won their "2014 Great American City" award. The city to receive this award is selected by votes from all the teams participating in the Fireball Run event.

From Sept. 28 to Oct. 4, local business owners Ron Ditzfeld and Rick Yeager represented our community as the Sedalia Trailblazers during Fireball Run America's Frontier, an 8 day, 2,000 mile life-size trivia game. The Trailblazer team was one of 40 volunteer teams participating in a race designed to locate missing children.

"We were Team 68; the emphasis wasn't on the number but on the word, 'Team,'" said Rick Yeager. "Our town worked as a team from the very beginning of this event." Sedalia was honored not only to welcome the Fireball Run teams as they visited on October 3rd and 4th, but to also have the opportunity to meet the mother, aunt and grandmother of three year old Beck Hotsenpiller, abducted from his Springfield, Missouri home by his father on July 30, 2013. Many people from Sedalia and all along the Fireball Run route have now memorized Beck's face and contact information due to the many flyers distributed by Mr. Ditzfeld and Mr. Yeager.
